Master Lean Excellence: Comprehensive Learning Objectives

  • Differentiate between value-added and nonvalue-added activities, identify the eight forms of waste, explain the principles of flow, push, and pull systems, and describe how Voice of the Customer defines value and drives Lean performance metrics by the end of Section I: Lean Fundamentals and Principles.
  • Apply structured continuous improvement methodologies—including PDCA, DMAIC, kaizen, A3 thinking, and gemba walks—to analyze root causes, solve problems, and improve process performance by the end of Section II: Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving.
  • Use core Lean system and process efficiency tools such as value stream mapping, takt time analysis, kanban, just-in-time, total productive maintenance, overall equipment effectiveness, changeover reduction, heijunka, and Theory of Constraints to evaluate and optimize workflow and system performance by the end of Section III: System and Process Efficiency Methodologies and Tools.
  • Apply workplace optimization methods including 5S, visual management, andon, jidoka, work cell design, and poka-yoke to improve safety, efficiency, quality, and process flow within a work environment by the end of Section IV: Workspace Optimization Methodologies and Tools.
